Provides high level of member service and performs warehouse safety and security checks. Checks member receipts at exit and thanks member.Front End Assistant-Packing member orders into boxes, and transferring member orders to a separate cart or flatbed after they have been scanned or keyed. Runs for items as needed. Proper safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times while monitoring a smooth flow of members through the registers.Front End Cashier-Processes member orders, collects payment while providing a high level of member service. Performs clean up, department set-up and closing tasks as necessary. Maintains courteous member service at all times.Job Duties/Essential FunctionsMember Service Assistant:Conducts hourly building safety and security checks including walking the building and perimeterCorrects safety and security problems encountered, such as spills, trip hazards and blocked exitsFills out reports and shows results to the duty managerAttends warehouse safety meetingsWelcomes members entering the warehouse - approaches, smiles, makes eye contact and greetsVerifies membership card, offers cart (removing rubbish if necessary) to all membersKeeps entrance/exit area clean.Clicks a handheld counter to members entering and exiting the warehouseReports half-hourly counts to Front End Supervisor and records counts on weekly reportsMonitors building access and reports arrival of armoured transport vehicle to duty managerDiscretely observes armoured deposit pickup, jewellery and register drawer set up and pick-up while holding panic buttonChecks backpacks, lunch pails, briefcases, strollers, etc. at exitGreets exiting memberChecks accuracy and validity of member's receipts and compares to merchandiseArranges speedy assistance for any member correction or concernDefaces receipt with hole puncherProvides and arranges prompt and courteous member serviceDirects members to product and service locationsEnlists assistance for loading, shopping, etc.Dries off wet cartsWatches after hour exit door discretely from private vehicle and reports door area status by 2-way radio before doors can be opened for employeesDrives building perimeter for security checksWatches closing managers leaveReports suspicious activity to duty manger and calls policy if necessaryFront End Assistant:Greets members, helps members load merchandise on the conveyor belt, asks member packing preferences, answers questions, relays information on special promotions, and thanks membersTransfers items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashier scans items, placing barcodes up for the cashier when possibleAssists with getting supervisor verification for high-ticket, Bottom of Basket, or non-transfer itemsPacks member orders into boxes and loads them on a separate cart or flatbedChecks packaging for tampering and reports itAssists members with loading orders into car when appropriateRetrieves items such as boxes, register supplies, and merchandise requested by members to keep lines moving smoothlyMaintains the cleanliness of the register and general Front End area, reports and cleans spills and trip hazards immediatelyWhen needed, retrieves carts and flatbeds from the parking area using a rope with clasping hook, pushing no more than 10 carts at onceKeep front of building cleanFollows proper Front End and general safety procedures and standardsAssist in other departments of the warehouse as necessaryProvides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and suppliersFront End Cashier:Provides prompt and courteous member service by greeting members, obtaining membership cards, determining member packing preferences, answering questions, relaying information on permanent/special promotions, and thanking membersRecords the sale of items to the register by moving merchandise across the scan window, using a hand-held scanning gun or, if necessary, the 10-key padTransfers or ensures the transfer of each item as the item's barcode is scanned while adhering to all safety and security proceduresPromotes accurate merchandise inventory by monitoring the accurate scanning of all merchandise passing through the registerRequests Supervisor verification for high-ticket, Bottom of Basket, or non-transfer itemsEnsures the register's cleanlinessOrders change, cash increases/loans when neededMakes witnessed drops/deposits of excess funds to the vault, orders cash increases, and counts own register at shift end to maintain accurate register fundsReceives accurate payment for merchandise; makes change, processes cheques, credit and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and the performance of dutiesAssists in the opening and closing duties of the Front End department;
