About the Role
The Safety, Risk and Audit Manager is a crucial role that is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Aviation Academy’s safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework. In addition, this role is responsible for conducting audits and investigations, the provision of expert advice, and ensuring aviation projects are aligned strategically to the direction of the University.
Critical to the success of this position and the Aviation Academy is the ability to sustain compliance with the national regulators of Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Tertiary Education Quality Standards Authority (TEQSA) at all times.
About You
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
* Demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems and aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors.
* Experience in the successful planning and implementation of quality, safety and risk management systems, processes and techniques to support a SMS.
* Proven ability to keep abreast of and identify changes in global regulatory frameworks and adapt organisational risk strategies and systems as required.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of managing compliance and regulatory requirements of aviation contracts including external regulators eg. CASA.
* Ability to provide strategic guidance, advice and support on matters relating to risk, quality, and compliance.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of team that contributes, fosters, and supports a culture that is collaborative, collegial, compliant and aligned with organisational values.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, influence/inspire a safety culture, and develop relationships that aid delivery of business outcomes.
* Superior attention to detail, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrated excellent written communications skills.

The RMIT Aviation Academy has trained more than 3,000 pilots from around the world and our graduates have gone onto work in the aviation industry, both in Australia and overseas. With sites at Point Cook and Bendigo, our world-class flight training facilities and environment develop the necessary skills to gain a Recreational, Private and Commercial Pilot Licence and/or an Associate Degree in Aviation.
