Fitter Machinist
* Initial Fixed-Term, Full-Time contract with a view to becoming a Permanent appointment
* Rate of pay commensurate with experience and qualifications, between $40.68 - $49.57 per hour base
* Potential for overtime and penalty rates.
Perisher is the operator of the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast.
Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski resort operations across the USA, Canada and Australia including iconic resorts such as Perisher, Falls Creek, Hotham in Australia and Park City, Beaver Creek, Vail and Whistler Blackcomb in North America.
A position has arisen for a qualified Fitter Machinist to join the Perisher Mountain Operations team on an initial 12-month Fixed-Term, full-time basis. In this role you will be required to perform machining and fabrication work, in addition to assisting with the service and repair of a wide range of plant and machinery.
This role will be based at out mechanical Workshop in Smiggin Holes and may be required to work a variety of shifts during the winter months in order to ensure all machinery is maintained to a high standard and is safe for operation. Shift penalties will apply as per the Perisher Trades Enterprise Agreement 2023.
In this role, you will:
* Service and maintain plant and machinery as well as all tracked and wheeled vehicles.
* Perform welding operations as directed.
* Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
* Assist in ordering parts and tools, including involvement in stocktakes on workshop stores.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* A current Driver's Licence
* Certificate III in a Mechanical discipline
* A flexible attitude towards hours of work
* Basic understanding of WH&S regulations
* A NSW Tradesperson Certification or equivalent
* Basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic principles.
* The successful applicant will be required to have a Certificate III trade qualification in a Mechanical discipline and experience in the use of metal machining equipment, welding and heat treatment processes. A working knowledge of hydraulic equipment would be considered an advantage.
