The Medical and Critical Care at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (SPACE Project) to join their team on a temporary basis. Your opportunity The Clinical Nurse Consultant is an employee who is a registered nurse who: Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set. Classification may include but is not limited to: Responsibility for explicit professional portfolio content and context expertise. Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership. Consultation and provision of professional advice. Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position and/or education and research advice. About the Team Our palliative and supportive care service provides supportive, specialist care when you have a life-limiting condition, with symptoms that are difficult to manage, whether the result of ongoing treatment or an underlying condition or disease. The Specialist Palliative Care Service works with you, your GP and those close to you to plan the right support at the right time in the right location, ideally this will be at home and if you need to come to hospital, we will be there to support you. We are an integrated service, which means we work together to ensure your optimum care and support. The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Specialist Palliative Care in Aged Care is part of the multidisciplinary care team who focuses on specialist palliative care for residents in Residential Aged Care Facilities in the Mackay region. The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides clinical leadership and expertise at an advanced practice level to ensure optimal coordination, clinical management and care provision for individuals commencing a palliative care pathway.
