The position is responsible for the day-to-day management, allocation and functioning of Federal Court courtrooms and hearings. As hearings at the Federal Court fluctuate depending on judicial listings and requirements, the position is also responsible for the allocation and management of a small team of casual court officers. The position reports directly to the Manager, Digital Practice and National Listings.DutiesPrepare for and manage all aspects of courtroom allocation in the Adelaide and Darwin Registries, including preparation and publication of the daily list and distribution of video conferencing details.Managing a team of casual court officers, including allocation of work, training, and administrative support.Oversight of in-court technology, including liaising with chambers staff, the onsite transcription service and other technology providers.Communicating and co-ordinating attendance of litigants with external agencies, including government agencies such as immigration detention centres.Provide training and support for in-court processes, including opening and closing court, swearing in witnesses, and videoconference process.Corresponding with practitioners and legal support staff in relation to videoconference procedure, including related administrative process.Provide assistance and coordination with Court events, including seminars, webinars and ceremonial / formal occasions.Other administrative duties, for instance the allocation of courtrooms, mediation suites and visiting chambers, as required.Selection CriteriaStrong administrative and organisational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and a capacity to perform effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment.Ability to lead, train, develop, and performance manage a team.Relationship management capacity, including an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including judicial officers, as well as strong interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to manage stressful and / or conflict situations in a professional manner, on a continual basis.Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of an operational team.Initiative, adaptability and sound problem-solving skills, including in relation to technology.How to applyAs part of your application, you will be required to submit a written response to the selection criteria listed in the position description (maximum word limit 1500).
