Role Lead, support, and develop strategic partnerships and relationships across the wider community, including with DET stakeholders, community organisations, Victorian government agencies and industry partners to ensure that the College delivers a wide-ranging educational program. Lead the development of professional learning (specifically Explicit Instruction and supporting the development of graduate and preservice teachers) Lead the implementation of a consistent college wide approach to Explicit Instruction Lead the review of the current college instructional model and lead the development of a new instructional model in consultation with the Principal Class team and all teaching staff. Lead and develop a college wide instructional coaching model, lesson observation, professional learning framework and PLC¿s, inclusive of professional standards, guidelines, and expectations. Lead and support the Principal Class in the implementation of a CoP with the college¿s feeder primary schools with a focus on a collective professional learning and understanding of Explicit Instruction and the consistent application of a SWPBS model. Co-lead the implementation of SWPBS with the Principal Class. Lead and develop college wide assessment and reporting guidelines including professional learning for effective feedback and moderation. Lead the work of the faculty learning specialists and relevant staff to ensure the provision of curriculum that is in line with DET and VCAA requirements. Ensure an annual curriculum plan is developed based on the evaluation of College and DET data and includes the implementation of Victorian Curriculum 2.0 The AP Teaching and Learning will also be accountable for the continuation of improving Literacy and numeracy across the curriculum, oversite of TLI and MYLNS and interventions for students below the state average. The assistant principal reports directly to the principal. Assistant principals have a primary responsibility for the management of significant areas or functions within the school to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. In exercising the responsibility, assistant principals will have the authority to make all significant decisions relating to the program, budget and staff relating to their area of designated responsibility within the framework of the school's strategic plan, policies and budget. Assistant principals will contribute to the overall management of the school through involvement in policy formulation and decision making. The management of significant school program or functional areas in schools involve assistant principals in the analysis of the needs of students and the translation of state educational policy and frameworks into appropriate education programs to meet the needs of all students. Typically assistant principals will be responsible for the effective use of the teaching staff and program budget of a defined area of the school's operation and for the oversight and leadership of the educational programs provided utilising these resources. It is situated in a large, attractive setting adjacent to bushland in the township of Newborough. Lowanna College is the only secondary school in the Moe-Newborough community drawing enrolments from the local area and outlying rural townships. Newborough is approximately 130 kilometres east of central Melbourne located in picturesque central Gippsland. The area is surrounded by rolling hills and is only an hour¿s drive to the snowfields of Mt Baw Baw and the beaches of South Gippsland. The region offers a wide variety of sporting activities and facilities such as golf, basketball, soccer, mountain bike riding and water skiing.
