About the role: As a Cook at Café de la Fontaine, your responsibilities will include: · Preparing and cooking food items such as crêpes, galettes, baguettes, and other French dishes following Café de la Fontaine's recipes and standards.· Ensuring freshness and quality of food items by checking ingredients and food supplies before cooking.· Adjusting and controlling cooking equipment temperatures, including ovens, grills, and fryers, to ensure proper cooking conditions.· Flavouring & seasoning dishes throughout the cooking process to achieve the desired flavour profiles.· Portioning and plating meals, including garnishing with sauces and other condiments to enhance presentation.· Assisting in designing new menus, taking into consideration seasonal ingredients and customer preferences, while maintaining the authentic flavours of French cuisine.· Maintaining high standards of hygiene in the kitchen by ensuring that all preparation and cooking areas, as well as equipment, are kept clean.· Preparing dishes for special dietary requirements, including allergies and intolerances, following strict food safety guidelines.· Storing food appropriately in temperature-controlled environments to ensure food safety and prevent spoilage.· Sourcing and ordering premium quality produce and ingredients and inspecting deliveries for quality and quantity.· Monitoring inventory and stock levels to align with kitchen needs and customer demand.· Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations during service, making swift decisions under pressure and providing training and supervision to team members as needed.An Ideal Candidate must have · At least two years of experience working as a cook in a busy kitchen.· At least a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification in a related field.· Proficiency in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes according to the menu, including seasonal adjustments and menu development.· Demonstrated professional experience working collaboratively in a kitchen environment to ensure timely and efficient completion of orders.· Proficient in bulk cooking and safe storage of essential ingredients, following French cuisine techniques.· Skills in time management and handling the stress of fast-paced environments, ensuring efficient kitchen operations.· Excellent communication skills to coordinate with both kitchen and front-of-house staff.· A professional attitude in the kitchen always.· Creative eye for detail and 'can do' attitude · Above all else, have passion for a great food and great customer service Further details · Australian citizen/ Permanent resident will be preferred.· Salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 per annum If this sounds like the role for you, please Apply for this position at the earliest by sending your cover letter and resume with references.**Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.Application Question(s): Do you have minimum 2 years of cooking experience in Australia?Do you have Certificate IV in commercial cookery or qualification in a relevant field?
