Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Flying Operations - Chief Pilot to join our leadership team full time located at Perth Airport.
This key permanent position ensures the safe operation of our aircraft and compliance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) legislative requirements.
The position is responsible for piloting on our fleet of Dash 8 aircraft -DHC-8-100/200/300 as well as working closely with the Directors and Chief Executive Officer to foster a cohesive and team-oriented approach to our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures the safe and efficient conduct of all flight operations in compliance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority requirements, Maroomba Airlines Operations Manual and the Aircraft Flight Manual.
Record duty and flight time records to ensure compliance with duty and flight time limitations.
Oversee all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the safety of our flying operations.
Ensure compliance with the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CARs), Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs) 1998, and Civil Aviation Orders (CAOs).
Arrange crew rosters and maintain records of licenses, ratings, and route qualifications for each flight crew member.
Maintain a system to record flight crew duty and flight times to ensure compliance with duty and flight time limitations.
Ensure compliance with loading procedures and proper compilation of loading documents, including passenger and cargo manifests.
Monitor operational standards, maintain training records, and supervise the training and checking of flight crew.
Conduct proficiency tests in emergency procedures and issue certificates of proficiency as required.
Train flight crew in the acceptance and handling of dangerous goods.
Maintain a complete and up-to-date reference library of operational documents as required by CASA.
Allocate appropriate aircraft and contribute to the efficient and effective management of the company.
Promote a high-performance culture and lead by example as a member of the Maroomba Airlines leadership team.
Safety Responsibilities
Contribute to the Maroomba Airlines Safety Management System and promote a safety and just culture.
Comply with the Maroomba Airlines Drug & Alcohol Policy, including random drug and alcohol testing.
Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
Activate and provide assistance with the appropriate ERP as required.
Maintain awareness of ERP procedures.
Apron Safety and Security
Adhere to OH&S guidelines, including wearing all safety equipment.
Follow apron safety procedures as per company and Perth Airport requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive experience in aviation, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in flight operations management and crew management.
In-depth knowledge of CASA regulations and compliance requirements.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with executive management.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Valid Australian Airline Transport Pilot License.
Command Instrument Rating.
Current CASA Class I Medical Certificate.
Dangerous Goods Training.
Dash 8 type rating.
