The CIT Automotive department are seeking a full-time trade-qualified individual to join the team as soon as possible to assist with educational support and workshop maintenance.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
CIT is seeking a full-time Technical Officer Level 2 to perform educational support, administrative and purchasing duties within the Automotive Mechanical Trades based at CIT Fyshwick. As a member of the Automotive team within the Trade Skills College, this role primary responsibility is to ensure the workshops and associated tools/materials are ready for the students to commence learning. The Automotive Technical Officer is responsible for the preventative maintenance, calibration and preparation of a variety of equipment used within the Automotive Trades we deliver.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Automotive Technical Officer responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring the workshops and associated tools/materials are ready for the students to commence learning.
2. Preventative maintenance, calibration, and preparation of a variety of equipment used within the Automotive Mechanical Trades.
3. Strong focus on maintaining a safe working environment for the students.
4. Use of common computer programs to maintain records, stock management and purchasing requirements.
5. Purchasing of consumables, material and equipment whilst undertaking stock control and arranging delivery of goods.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
6. Completion of an appropriate Diploma/Associate Diploma and/or relevant experience, training or accreditation appropriate to the duties of the position. This could include a relevant trade qualification (as listed below) combined with industry experience.
Relevant Trade Qualifications including but not limited to:
7. Certificate III in Automotive Light or Heavy Vehicle Technology.
8. Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair or Refinishing Technology.
9. Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Light or Heavy Fabrication).
10. Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining).
11. Current Forklift Licence.
12. Current Drivers Licence.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately to 04 August 2025, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency as per the Public Sector Management Standards, Section 14 – Direct appointment of employee – general, and Section 20 – Direct promotion - general and CIT Enterprise Agreements. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill similar vacancies over the next 12 months.
