Key Function: The key function is to design, build and support data centre network, mainframe, midrange, server, desktop, security and network infrastructure capabilities both in house and in a shared service arrangement. Senior Infrastructure Engineering Experts are accountable for the management of the organisations network infrastructure including WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers, and switches and the computing infrastructure including data centre, mainframe, midrange, server, and desktop. Senior Infrastructure Engineering Experts operate with a significant degree of independence and work under the broad guidance of a National Manager to deliver quality outcomes. They operate with a high level of autonomy, with decision-making highly dependent on their own judgement. In performing a leadership role, Senior Infrastructure Experts identify and drive innovation, manage and lead change, and have an active role in contributing to, and implementing the agency's strategic direction.
Key Duties: Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demand and ensure the provision of infrastructure-related operational support for hardware, software and other assets. Define effective procedures for prioritisation and escalation of infrastructure issues to ensure timely resolution. Communicate end-to-end implications of configuration changes. Analyse the quality of requests for change management. Provide detailed, specialist technical advice including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriate. Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues. Develop and implement standards, strategies, operational policy and procedures and change initiatives. Oversee operations of teams, including providing a clear sense of direction, setting work priorities and managing resources. Develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning. Negotiate with suppliers and third-party vendors in the purchase of technology equipment. Oversee the development, delivery and performance of contracted goods and services. Oversee team contribution to cost analysis activities. Oversee, review and advise on a range of technical documentation including design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures. Negotiate, engage and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability. Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes. Share information, drive innovation, continuous improvement and manage. Lead change and set direction by contributing to local business plans and ICT strategies. Exercise delegation in accordance with legislation and guidelines. Primary Knowledge/Skills/Systems/Tools Required: Cisco network, F5 Products, Palo Alto Firewalls, Infoblox, DNS Solutions, Linux Administration, Web Proxy. Essential Criteria: A current security clearance of at least Negative Vetting Level 1. At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of large scale data centre networking environment. Experience in the development of network high-level designs and detailed designs. Ability to articulate detail through design and implementation plans. Highly developed diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to work effectively as a team member. Desirable Criteria: Demonstrated experience with solid knowledge in design and configuration of Networking, Wireless LAN, Software Defined Network. Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of enterprise network. Demonstrated experience in implementing, configuring and maintaining network devices including Cisco Catalyst, Nexus Switches, Cisco ACI, F5 Load balancers, DNS, network proxy and network firewalls. Expertise in dynamic routing protocols, particularly EIGRP, OSPF & BGP. Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation. Experience using network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics and create reports. Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight. #J-18808-Ljbffr
