As our Software Engineer with expertise in Python and C++ you will contribute to the development of the NVDA screen reading software for Microsoft Windows. You will empower the community by leveraging your skills to enhance our Continuous Integration infrastructure, currently operating on Appveyor. Your role will extend to critical areas such as improving the website, certification system, and endpoint for NVDA automatic updates, making a direct impact on the lives of over 250,000 blind and vision-impaired individuals worldwide. Collaborating with industry leaders such as Mozilla, Google, and others, you will engage with our vibrant open-source community. Your responsibilities will include reviewing code, triaging issues, gathering requirements, and innovating on automated testing processes to ensure top-tier quality assurance. Beyond coding excellence, you will play a crucial role in disaster recovery planning, contribute to the research and development of future projects, and craft end-user and technical documentation. YOU WILL NEED... 6 months experience - 3 years' in Python and C++ in a commercial capacity A strong interest in accessibility A solid understanding of object-oriented design Effective communication skills with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds An understanding of software project management, including triage and planning Skills to innovate on automated testing processes and perform rigorous quality assurance An understanding or previous experience in engaging with our open-source community To assist in the research and development of future projects to stay at the forefront of accessibility technology - A passion for keeping up with technological and community based advancements Experience with Linux server administration - ideally Ubuntu IT'S NICE TO HAVE...
