Join us and be part of a team that's shaping the future of transport in Australia.About the Team Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.About the Opportunity The role of the Area Manager is a critical people leadership role. You will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the rail infrastructure maintenance requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of rail assets within the Port Waratah Provisioning Centre (PC) area.Responsibilities: Build a strong safety culture within the team, in line with ARTC processes and policies. Deliver reliability improvements to improve network health and reduce customer impact. Lead, direct and coach a team of around 30 employees to achieve business objectives. Manage an operating budget including labour, plant, inventory, contractors, and materials. Drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices and seek ways to optimise performance. Promptly attend to emergencies and irregularities and ensure that equipment is promptly and safely returned to service. Assist in the ongoing development of the forward strategic works plans. What do we want from you? Tertiary qualifications OR an appropriate trade qualification with relevant industry experience. Strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of safety management principles. Demonstrated experience and passion for leading people with the ability to lead change and motivate staff. Proven management experience in a maintenance environment. Highly developed negotiation, influencing, analytical and problem resolution skills. Demonstrated cost and budgeting experience. Understanding of business improvement fundamentals. Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced frontline maintenance operation. What will you get from us?
