The ACT Courts and Tribunal are seeking to recruit an experienced lawyer to join the Supreme Court Registrar's Legal team as a Senior Director, Legal and Senior Deputy Registrar (Legal 2).The role is dynamic, interesting and challenging, while also offering excellent work/life balance, experience as a judicial officer, and the opportunity to work on high-profile strategic and litigation matters arising from the work of the ACT Supreme Court, within a supportive and high-performing team.The primary roles of a Senior Deputy Registrar, Legal 2, Supreme Court are to:exercise the statutory powers and delegated judicial powers of a Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, including by conducting the Registrar's daily lists in Court;provide high level policy and legal advice on questions of law/justice administration, practice and policy on matters affecting the ACT Supreme Court.In addition, a Senior Deputy Registrar, Legal 2, Supreme Court has responsibility for providing direction and support to Supreme Court Registry staff in the law and practice relevant to the operations of the ACT Courts. This includes providing training and advice to staff on legal matters and the exercise of statutory powers and functions.To be successful in the role, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated, have sound judgement and professional resilience and be an effective team member. You will also need to be admitted as a practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.It is desirable that applicants have at least five years post qualification practice experience in law.
