The Role
MQ Health is seeking Junior Medical Officers to join our Doctors in Training Program to provide clinical services and participate in the teaching and research environment of MQ Health. The role will also provide and participate in education, supervision of students and engage in ongoing quality assurance and improvement activities at the discipline, and program levels
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
4. Be mentored and work alongside experienced clinicians in a diverse spectrum of Medical and Surgical specialities
5. Collaborate with groups across MQ Health to participate in research projects
6. Be exposed to a wide range of clinical conditions and treatment for these, including advanced procedural interventions
7. Supervise and train students and other Doctors in Training in collaboration with the Macquarie University Medical School
8. Contribute to educational activities with MQ Health

10. General Medicine [including Respiratory, Medical & Radiology Oncology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology
11. General Surgery (including Upper GI and Colorectal)
12. Neurosurgery
13. Orthopaedics
14. Cardiothoracic / Vascular Surgery
15. Urology
16. Relief / Evenings

Key Accountabilities include () :
17. Provide clinical service within the scope of practice granted by the Advisory Committee and approved by the Board to patients of MUH and the Clinics.
18. Participate in and fulfil the duties and responsibilities as set out in the HETI term description provided for the term of the Internship.
19. Conduct initial assessment of patients including an accurately documented comprehensive patient history and, physical examination.
20. Formulate a management plan, order appropriate investigations in consultation with supervisors.
21. Coordinate and follow up of the patient’s management plan to ensure that it is carried out and assessing its outcome.
22. Communicate of the patient’s assessment and management plan with the medical staff and other members of the team providing care to the patient.
23. Communicate with the patient and their family/carers about their condition, assessments and management.
24. Review all pathology, radiology and other diagnostic reports and advise the registrar or consultant and/or take appropriate action.
25. Liaise and work effectively with allied health professionals involved in patient care including the broader care team.
26. Participate in Discipline/Program Morbidity and Mortality meetings and other meetings deemed compulsory by supervisor(s) or the Director of Medical Services
27. Participate in Discipline, Program, Hospital and MQ Health quality assurance and risk management projects.
