Location: Wellington Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Worker to join our Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team.
As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in delivering culturally respectful family violence programs and services to the Aboriginal community.
About the Role This position operates within our Wellington office and aims to strengthen community capacity, provide specialist support, and promote healing-informed practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with community members, organisations, and healthcare providers to prevent and respond to family violenceDeveloping and implementing community education and prevention initiatives addressing violence, abuse, and neglectProviding trauma-informed support and referrals to individuals and families affected by violenceContributing to case management processes and interagency collaborationsParticipating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledgeMinimum Requirements Cert IV in Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention (or willingness to undertake)Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal communities and familiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsComputer literacy, report writing, and record-keeping skillsUnencumbered Driver's License and willingness to travelPrevious experience in delivering community programsWhat We Offer • Generous not-for-profit salary packaging• Opportunities for professional growth and development• Novated Leasing options• A supportive and inclusive work environment
