The Role:
This role is centered on actively managing and overseeing all facets of the import freight operations. Under the guidance of the Branch Manager, you will collaborate closely with various departments to foster a supportive team environment within the branch. Partnering with the export team, you will cultivate and sustain robust relationships with customers, ensuring trust and encouraging future sales. Your responsibilities will also include but are not limited to:
7. Automate cargo consolidation processes.
8. Oversee the processing of documentation handovers.
9. Liaise with airlines for flight information and freight availability.
10. Process all check-ins before the end of the day.
11. Assist the warehouse team in maintaining speedy and accurate import services.
12. Report and monitor damage and surplus cargo to management, investigate, and take appropriate action, including claims processing in line with the company's claims procedure.
13. Respond to all claims promptly and professionally using the claims policy and procedures. Notify your reporting manager immediately of any significant claims issues.
14. Conduct on the job training for new staff in relevant work practice processes and systems training.
15. Participate in Customer Sales visits to improve operational issues and relations.
16. Ensure that all employees follow and meet all Security, Customs and Quarantine criteria.
About you:
To be successful in this position you must:
17. Demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
18. Clear understanding of pallet sizes, weight restrictions and knowledge of weight balancing to anticipate daily volumes from pre-alerts.
19. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Freight Forwarding/Logistics Industry.
20. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues to address any queries or concerns.
21. Demonstrated ability to understand employees' concerns and provide alternative solutions.
22. Display a high level of customer service and maturity when dealing with customers, peers and managers.
23. Possess high integrity, reliability, and a collaborative approach as a team player.
24. In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding operations.
25. Strong management style and decision-making skills.
26. Intermediate knowledge in MS Office applications.
