The MEB provides pavement engineering design, pavement rehabilitation advice, and pavement materials research and testing advice. As a Pavements Engineer, you will be part of the team of geotechnical, pavement, and surfacing engineers working closely with materials technicians in Main Roads NATA accredited laboratories.As a Pavements Engineer, your role includes assessment of existing road pavements, geotechnical input into planning of road widening and extension projects, pavement design and treatment selection, review of flexible and rigid pavement designs, and provision of technical advice to road construction and maintenance projects. There are also opportunities for research of new and sustainable materials to help shape our roads of the future.About YouThese roles will suit someone with a keen interest in understanding soil mechanics and materials engineering applications to foundation strength assessment, earthworks stability, granular pavement materials, and manufactured materials for road construction and maintenance.Your considerable skill, knowledge, and experience in the analysis of heavy vehicle traffic data (i.e., weigh in motion, classification, and count data) along with the demonstrated ability to undertake site investigations and testing technologies will be essential to be successful in this role. Your conceptual and analytical skills, including the demonstrated ability to undertake and manage research projects, will be required in this role.Part of your role will require considerable skills, knowledge, and experience in building and maintaining relationships as you will be undertaking consultation and liaison with our regional materials personnel and other key stakeholders including Austroads, NTRO, other Agencies, consultants, contractors, Western Australian Pavement Group, and Local Government Agencies on pavement matters.This is an excellent opportunity for two result-driven people to develop their career by joining an innovative team within Main Roads.
