Key Responsibilities
1. Champion and uphold safe work practices for yourself and others, ensuring full compliance with site-specific and statutory OHS requirements. Promptly report and respond to incidents in accordance with safety protocols.
2. Lead the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Systems (EI&C), automation, software, and IT solutions across a range of industries.
3. Ensure engineering designs meet all relevant Australian and International Standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
4. Conduct site-based activities, including inspections, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems.
5. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and project teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous development.
6. Collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
7. Prepare, review, and approve comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, reports, calculations, and drawings, as required.
8. Manage project deliverables, budgets, and schedules, ensuring quality outcomes and adherence to agreed timelines.
9. Ensure all engineering changes are properly managed through formal change management procedures.
10. Support business development through client engagement and proposal development activities.
11. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and drive innovation in engineering practices within the company and the broader industry.
Skills and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, or Software Engineering.
2. Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering or Management are highly regarded.
3. Professional certification such as CPEng, Functional Safety, and EEHA is preferred.
4. 10+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, ideally within the mining, energy, or industrial sectors.
5. Proven experience in engineering across the full project lifecycle – including studies, front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, and site construction/commissioning.
6. Strong working knowledge of Australian and International Standards relevant to electrical and instrumentation systems.
7. Expertise in HV and LV electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and clearly with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
10. Practical experience in site-based roles, including commissioning and troubleshooting.
11. Solid understanding of electrical compliance and safety management systems in the Australian context.
12. Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver outcomes efficiently.
