About the Role As a Senior Systems Engineer – Windows IaaS Automation, you will play a vital technical leadership role within Coles’ Core Technology team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions to drive the automation and cloud strategies across Coles Group. You will lead the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, enabling seamless hybrid cloud adoption, and work closely with stakeholders to provide expert technical advice and solutions. This is a key role that ensures high operational standards, strategic alignment, and innovative practices within Coles' IT ecosystem. What You’ll Do Lead Automation Initiatives and IaaS Development o Develop IaC solutions for Windows Server technologies to enhance IaaS capabilities. o Drive the design and implementation of automation workflows aligned with Coles’ cloud strategies. o Provide technical leadership and expertise across platform and infrastructure technologies. Cloud Infrastructure Management o Maintain and support Coles’ existing hybrid cloud IaaS deployment. o Manage cloud automation tools like Terraform, Azure DevOps, Ansible, and VMware vRealize Orchestrator. o Ensure the quality, security, and performance of infrastructure solutions through best practices. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement o Work closely with IT teams and vendors to develop scalable, sustainable technology solutions. o Act as a trusted advisor across the business, providing guidance on infrastructure needs. o Develop relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth project delivery. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement o Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure issues efficiently. o Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. o Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps to support future growth. About You and Your Skills Technical Expertise & Experience 5+ yearsof experience in a senior technical role with a focus on cloud automation. Hands-on experience with: Terraform, Azure DevOps, Ansible, and VMware vRealize Orchestrator. Windows Server automation on Azureand VMwareplatforms. Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and YAML. Familiarity with tools and frameworks like Jenkins, GIT, BitBucket, and Artifactory. Strong knowledge of Microsoft System Centre, Group Policy, Active Directory, and DevOps practices Leadership & Collaboration Skills o Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical projects. o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. o Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on customer service and operational excellence. o Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and emerging technologies Process-Oriented Approach o Expertise in developing and maintaining automated processes for functional, regression, and integration testing. o Experience with CI/CD practices to streamline development and operations. o Track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure solutions within budget and timelines.
