In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service, supporting the safe and efficient dispensing, distribution, and inventory management of medications for inpatients and outpatients. You will also play a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations through cashier and reception duties, and depending on experience, may assist in the preparation and/or manufacture of pharmaceuticals. For those with strong technical experience, responsibilities may extend to staff training and workload coordination, making this a role with ample room for growth and development. This role is offered at either an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) level 1 or level 2, depending on your experience and qualifications. If you are just starting your pharmacy career, AHA1 provides structured training and development opportunities, with progression to AHA2 possible after completing a relevant Certificate 3 or six months of continuous employment. For those with demonstrated skills and qualifications, AHA2 offers opportunities to contribute to key pharmacy processes, including technical training, inventory control, and pharmaceutical preparation. Qualifications & Experience : AHA1: No formal qualifications required, but eligibility and willingness to undertake relevant Certificate Level 3 training is essential. AHA2: Prior experience as an AHA1 or relevant qualification (e.g., Certificate III or IV in Pharmacy, Business Administration, or Project Management) is required. Skills & Abilities : Strong arithmetic and written communication skills. Effective team player with the ability to work independently when needed. Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Good manual dexterity, technical skills, and physical ability to handle stock management tasks. Communication & Interpersonal Skills : Ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural and linguistic groups. Strong public relations skills and understanding of patient confidentiality and ethical practices. Knowledge (Based on Level) : AHA1: General understanding of the role of pharmacy assistants and willingness to develop knowledge. AHA2: Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medical terminology, pharmacy software, and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, with experience in hospital pharmacy settings and manufacturing processes.
