About Ingkerreke Services Aboriginal Corporation (ISAC)
Ingkerreke Services is a proudly Arrernte-owned, not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation based in Alice Springs, providing essential municipal and housing services to 57 homelands across Central Australia. Our mission is to deliver sustainable, high-quality infrastructure and support self-sufficiency within remote communities.
With a newly secured three-year government contract for homeland housing and infrastructure projects, we are expanding our internal trade capacity and seeking a skilled and self-sufficient Carpenter to join our team and be part of our growth.
We are seeking a full-time, highly independent Carpenter to work on essential housing renovations and upgrades across remote homelands in the Northern Territory. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in scoping, coordinating, completing, and documenting carpentry projects.
Key Responsibilities:
o Performing repairs and installation of doors, windows, verandas, cabinets, and other fixtures.
o Responding to housing maintenance requests from Ingkerreke Housing Officers.
o Ensuring compliance with Australian building standards and WHS regulations.
o Keeping organised records and photos of completed work.
o Operating tools, machinery, and equipment as required.
o Potential to mentor an apprentice in the future, depending on experience and organisational needs.
This role requires significant travel across remote homelands, with a company vehicle, travel allowances, and a swag allowance provided to support on-site work.
We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal peoples and are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
About You
To qualify, you will need a Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent) and a valid Manual Driver’s License. You will have proven experience in housing construction, repairs, and maintenance. Additionally, you must hold or be willing to obtain the following:
o Construction Industry White Card.
o Working at Heights Certificate.
o NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
o HR License or willingness to obtain.
o Project management skills or an interest in developing them.
o Experience mentoring apprentices or leading small teams.
o Knowledge of Northern Territory building codes and regulations.
As our ideal candidate, you are self-motivated, adaptable, and resilient, able to work independently and problem-solve in remote settings. You excel in communication and collaboration, with a deep cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal communities. Comfortable with physically demanding work, you thrive in challenging environments, including outdoor and remote-site conditions.
Benefits & Salary
We offer a competitive package, including:
o $90,000 - $100,000 per year + superannuation (negotiable beyond for an exceptional candidate).
o Company vehicle provided for work-related travel.
o Travel and camping allowance for remote site visits.
o Swag allowance for accommodation in remote locations.
o Up to five weeks of paid annual leave.
o Salary-sacrificing options for increased tax benefits.
