UGL has a strategic partnership with the Department of Defence across the Defence Fuels Network for Fuels Management, Asset Management, Operations and Maintenance. We are recruiting an experienced Lead Cost Engineer, to join our business in what is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in Australia’s Defence environment and support national security requirements of the Nation.
The Role
The Lead Cost Engineer, reporting into the Project Controls Manager, will be based in our newly created Defence Hub in North Sydney, supporting National sites and locations. The Lead Cost Engineer will take ownership of the contract’s cost management processes to refine and improve cost control. They will be responsible for the following:
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop accurate cost estimates for the contract and various projects,
* Monitor and control costs to ensure the contract adheres to budget constraints under complex commercial models,
* Prepare cost reports and forecasts on a regular basis,
* Identify cost-related risk and assess the impacts scope, schedule or resource changes have on cost and provide recommendations to mitigate, and
* Mentor and provide guidance to more junior team members.
What we are looking for:

* Degree qualified (Engineering, Business, or similar) or relevant trade qualification and experience
* Extensive experience in a similar role working in the Oil & Gas industry, or other relevant high risk, processing industries
* Ability and willingness to be innovative and strive for continuous improvement and system optimisation
* Proficient in SAP or other ERMS is preferred
* Holds, or can obtain, appropriate security clearance
