It combines urban amenities with natural attractions, making it a great place for both work and leisure.Apply now!The Department of Paediatrics at Gladstone Hospital has a 9-bed General Paediatric Ward and a 4-cot Nursery. It is the hub centre for the Banana Shire accepting referrals in consultation with the Paediatrician and RSQ (Retrieval Services Queensland) for children and neonates who can be managed within the resources available.There is capacity to support Paediatric patients in our HDU. Up to 30% of all category 1 (CAT 1) patients presenting to the Emergency Department are Paediatric. Tertiary support is easily accessible including via RSQ. Acute and inpatient care includes a varied and broad range of Paediatric and Neonatal clinical conditions including chronic and complex medical issues as well as complex social challenges.The Nursery has CPAP and ventilator capabilities, undertaking short term respiratory support for newborns, or stabilisation before transfer to a Tertiary facility for ongoing management. Infants less than 35-weeks gestation are transferred in-utero, if possible, in consultation with the Obstetric team as per our current Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF) Level 3 Level.About the role:The Registrar or Principal House Officer (Paediatrics) role is currently accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for a maximum core training of six (6) months of General Paediatrics (Rural) – without a perinatal component. We are hoping to broaden our accreditation in the near future.The Registrar or Principal House Officer (Paediatrics) supports the Senior Medical Staff in ensuring the Paediatric services provided by the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, Gladstone Hospital, are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner given available resources.About you:MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with the appropriate supervision level and provide the following:Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year.Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination.Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (ALS).What we offer:Salary information:Total remuneration value of up to $169,083 p.a. is comprised of:A salary rate between $125,808 - $138,571 p.a.
