Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Analyst to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity, based at our Yarraville, VIC head office. Reporting to the Commodity Manager, this role will play a crucial part in supporting the trading and price risk management of raw and refined sugar for our business operations across Australia and New Zealand.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Providing daily price quotes to the Refined Sales Teams to support customer orders and fill requirements.
* Managing customer orders and executing orders in the market.
* Supporting NY11 sugar and FX hedging activities to manage exposure.
* Preparing and delivering market reports on sugar and FX trends for internal and external stakeholders.
* Capturing trade data, managing positions, and reporting P&L to support the financial reporting and budgeting process.
* Executing raw sugar physical and freight contracts, including invoicing, shipping documents, and laytime calculations.
* Supporting commodity accounting with physical and derivative contract systems capture, monthly accounting proof processes, and IFRS reporting.
* Ensuring timely and accurate trade entries and position management.
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong understanding of commodity trading and risk management. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities. You should have:
* A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in commodity trading, price risk management, or a similar environment.
* A strong understanding of sugar futures markets, FX exposure management, and physical commodity contracts.
* Proficiency in trade capture, P&L reporting, and market analysis.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate complex market trends to both internal and external stakeholders.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and contract execution.
* A self-starter attitude with a results-oriented focus and the ability to thrive under pressure.
