As the demand for such services grows, they seek energetic, passionate, and qualified Disability Care Workers to join their team in Paradise in South Australia.
The Role
This is for multiple positions on a full-time basis with an annual salary set between $65,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Assist clients with daily personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, ensuring comfort and dignity.
* Support clients with mobility, including helping with transfers from bed to chair and guiding the use of mobility aids to promote safe movement.
* Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in social activities and meaningful conversations to foster well-being and reduce loneliness.
* Help clients with errands and shopping, including grocery shopping and providing transportation to medical appointments or social events.
* Accompany clients during daily activities, ensuring they remain engaged and included in their routine.
* Encourage safe movement and independence, supporting physical well-being through mobility assistance and physical activity.
* Plan and prepare meals tailored to clients' dietary needs, assisting with eating and drinking when necessary.
* Organize social events and activities to promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional health.
* Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring clients' health conditions are managed and medication is taken as directed.
* Monitor and document health status, tracking changes in physical or emotional well-being and reporting any concerns.
* Assist with physical therapy exercises, helping clients improve strength and mobility as part of their rehabilitation or wellness plan.
* Respond to emergencies swiftly, providing first aid and ensuring the safety of clients in crisis situations.
* Coordinate medical appointments and provide transportation, ensuring clients have access to the healthcare they need.
* Maintain a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring the home is secure, clean, and conducive to the client's well-being.
Requirements
In order to be shortlisted for this position, the right candidate needs to have :
* At least a Certificate 3 qualification in disabled care.
* A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
* A minimum of 1 year practice of geriatric pharmacology.
* At least 1 year experience operating various assistive technologies and devices, such as mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers), communication aids (speech-generating devices), and environmental control systems.
* Certification or training in caregiving, first aid, and CPR.
* Clear criminal background check.
* Meeting physical fitness requirements for lifting and transferring clients.
* Dependability and punctuality.
* Effective communication skills with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
* Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
* Documentation skills for keeping client care records.
* Ability to handle pressure in a professional manner.
