Biological & Biomedical Sciences (Science & Technology)Other (Education & Training)Full timeAssociate Lecturer (Level A) $98,574 - $105,611 or Lecturer (Level B) $111,031 - $131,335 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.Full time, fixed term position available immediately for a period of 4 years.The School of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer with a focus on molecular and/or protein biology that can be applied to the study of proteins used by single celled parasites (e.g. malaria) for survival and virulence.Depending on the appointment level, you will be expected to contribute to, and establish new capabilities and research streams within, a dynamic research program that will broaden capabilities and collaborative opportunities in the School and wider academic community. You will directly contribute to delivery of teaching in microbiology/parasitology, zoonotic diseases and biotechnology in the School.You will introduce innovative approaches to teaching at all undergraduate levels, and may supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students. The position may require travel to China for teaching as part of the Haide College (the University of Adelaide's Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University of China) program.To be successful you will need:PhD or equivalent degree in Biological/Biomedical Sciences with a focus on molecular and/or protein biology.Demonstrated research excellence and knowledge in molecular and/or protein biology (e.g. some of: molecular cloning techniques, gene-editing, proteomics, protein expression systems, structural biology) that can be applied to the study of single cell (e.g. malaria) parasite biology, including a relevant publication record in peer reviewed scientific journals.Level APotential to contribute positively to and/or obtain external funding as a co/lead investigator.Potential to contribute to molecular and/or protein biology teaching in microbiology/parasitology at undergraduate level and openness to employ modern teaching techniques that foster student engagement.Level BDemonstrated success in contributing to or obtaining external funding as a co/lead investigator.Demonstrated teaching experience in parasite molecular and/or protein biology at undergraduate level with the ability to use modern pedagogy techniques that foster student engagement.Experience in the supervision of Honours, Masters and/or PhD level students.Enjoy an outstanding career environmentThe University of Adelaide is a uniquely rewarding workplace.
