About the Function: The Commercial Excellence Team will be responsible for leading the commercial realization of our strategy: working collaboratively across teams and driving accountability for Commercial Strategy; Category Leadership; and Customer Marketing. They will oversee the design, execution, and continuous improvement of commercial strategies across various channels to deliver a triple win for Diageo, our customers, and consumers. In this role you will be working collaboratively across teams and drive accountability for Commercial Strategy; Category Leadership; and Customer Marketing. Purpose of Role: Reporting to Head of Commercial Excellence, the Commercial Strategy Manager is responsible for leading the development of commercial strategies & plans, working across teams and particularly BU Teams to drive adoption that results in great execution for Diageo brands instore & leads to a triple win for customers, shoppers & Diageo. You will utilize internal and external data, turning them into actionable plans that are implemented with customers. To achieve this, you need to develop strong collaboration with Business Unit teams & other cross functional teams, creating trust and influence so Diageo secure competitive advantage. External market opportunities will be a key priority for this role and you will demonstrate results by having an externally curious approach to opportunities both for Diageo and our customers. Role Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Business Transformation - Contribute to the Point of Purchase vision development and implementation (off and on trade channels) partnering with Innovation to build commercial plans for new launches. Category Leadership - Work with Category Leadership to apply category strategy growth plans into the development & evolution of the Trade Strategy - Lead for ensuring E2E Planning is built through a category first approach to growth. - Work with Category Leadership on the development of the Category Annual Plan, driving laser focus on the commercial must win battles and BU Teams on Customer Range Review. Commercial & Business Strategy - Deliver and execute a clear Commercial Strategy (incl Trade Strategy, alongside RGM) that drives clear channel & customer prioritization and guidelines on commercial investments to lead implementation of our strategy with customers. - Own planning grids and investment sufficiency on to ensure plan sufficiency and in line with our strategy & category projections. Includes informing targeting for Shopper & Customer BTL. - Own E2E planning process through to execution, with periodic reviews of execution performance to drive insight -> action with speed/agility. - Collaborate with senior management to define long-term plans and short-term tactical initiatives for the category. - Co-own Assortment plans with RGM (including Price Pack Architecture) & commercial deliverables in range reviews with Heads of BUs. - Define price & promotional strategy in collab w/ RGM. Customer Marketing - Work on the commercialization and implementation of customer marketing programs that are borne out of the customer strategy & category opportunity. - Lead the commercialization of 365 Essentials Sales Fundamentals including a commercial set of plans that deliver the Executional Excellence Strategy (Perfect Outlet). Customer Data & Insights - Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to derive actionable insights for decision-making. Role Requirements: - 5- 8 years of relevant working experience in FMCG with some prior commercial (Account Management, category & strategy experience, preferably Liquor - Has a proven track record of achieving results through Insight to Action, working collaboratively with customers & internal stakeholders to achieve growth - Has prior knowledge and experience in working with Scan/Panel Data tools (IRI, Nielsen, Quantium, Coles Synergy) - Has gained valuable experience working with customers (suppliers if retailer experience), and proven record in achieving results through a 'triple win' mindset - Flexible leadership style, and proven ability to influence - High proficiency across Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) - Being able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment.
