Southern Cross Grammar – Caroline Springs VIC Southern Cross Grammar (P—12) invites expressions of interest from experienced applicants for the full time, ongoing position of School Nurse commencing in Term 1, 2025.The position is 44 weeks per year comprising term time when students are on site, and 1 week of each term break to complete administrative work as required.Hours of work during term time are 8:00am - 4:00pm.Key Aspects of the role: Ability to demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality nursing care.Administering medications as required to staff and students.Administering injectable and restricted medications with doctors' prescriptions in line with School Policies.Providing first aid and wound care to students as required.Being the first point of reference for First Aid and other health matters by providing basic First Aid and assessments of students and staff, including pre-camp briefings and students' medical management updates, including liaising with and providing advice to staff who will be in attendance on camps or other off-site activities.Liaising with parents prior to camps and overseas trips regarding medical and healthcare needs for their child.Maintaining an accident and injury register of students and staff treated.Preparing and managing medical data and records of workers' compensation cases.Managing the First Aid room.Attending school sporting carnivals and other events as the First Aid Officer.Providing assistance as per management plans for ongoing health conditions e.g., Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, Allergies, Epilepsy.Liaising with parents/guardians, Heads of School and staff regarding the health needs of students as required (including the development of health-based Wellbeing Profiles and/or Modification of Program Profiles).Managing and delivering, where applicable, first aid and CPR, anaphylaxis, asthma and other relevant health training for staff including conducting auto injector verification sessions to staff as required.Maintaining accurate and timely records pertaining to staff training and compliance.Maintaining accurate student medical records.Overseeing the planning and implementation of the School's Immunisation Program.Reviewing and recommending updates to all medical-related School Policies.Member of the OH&S or Critical Incident Committee.Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and professional conduct.Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook. Qualifications and Position Requirements Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check.Current Victorian Nurses Board Registration - Registered Nurse.First Aid and CPR Qualification.Current certification in relation to Asthma, Anaphylaxis and allergy care, Anaphylaxis Verification, Epilepsy and other medical conditions as required.Previous nursing experience in a school environment.
