As part of the Critical Minerals Trailblazer JCU have secured funding to undertake a high-profile research project “Emerging technologies for advanced geochemical exploration undercover” We are seeking to fill a full-time and two-year fixed-term position, located at the Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas. Remuneration at Academic Level A $94,829 - $101,477 per annum + up to 17% employer superannuation contributions.About the opportunityAs part of a highly motivated team of researchers within the Economic Geology Research Centre (EGRU) you will apply your geochemical expertise to an emerging area of isotope geochemistry. Groundwater isotope signatures have shown great promise for vectoring towards hidden ore deposits. As part of a specialized group of scientists within the IsoTropics Geochemistry Laboratory, you will undertake research focused on optimizing an automated chromatographic separation system to undertake transition metal isotope analyses in large volumes of groundwater.Working in collaboration with Earth and Environmental Science and Engineering researchers and external partners, you will conduct research, develop and/or contribute to research publications as a member of a high performing team and ensure all key research outcomes and milestones are achieved in alignment with project timelines.What you can bring to the roleYou will have completed (or near completion) a PhD qualification or equivalent in Geochemistry, Geology or related discipline with demonstrated experience in the field of isotope geochemistry and a proven research publication track record.
