THE WHAT, THE WHERE, & THE WHY Energy Queensland's Decarbonisation program is transitioning our remote embedded generation sites to 90% Renewable Energy by 2040 with a combination of solar and batteries to replace existing centralised diesel power stations.
Currently, Ergon owns and operates 33 isolated power stations with standalone electricity networks that supply communities too remote to connect to the national grid.
As a PowerStation Electrical Design Paraprofessional within the Remote & Embedded Generation Design Team, you will be providing engineering advice and designs tostakeholders across Energy Queensland and customers.
You will actively engage and collaborate with a wide range of SMEs & Stakeholders and be involved with technical discussions with customers and their technical representatives to deliver high quality designs for EQL's Isolated Networks.
In short, this is a true technical position where you will be involved in the design, installation, and commissioning support for a variety of unique and interesting remote power station and decarbonisation projects, servicing communities from remote Western Queensland all the way through to Cape York and the Torres Strait.
You'll be providing expert design advice, design documentation inclusive of CAD drawings, reports, and sketches for the provision of safe reliable and affordable power generation into remote networks, as well as integrating new generation sources, energy storage and demand management technologies.
You will contribute to the standardisation of power station designs across the state as we incorporate this technology.

With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band is $152,776 - $162,214 for 9 days and $172,637 - $183,301 for 10 days + 14.75% superannuation .
The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant's knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2024.
THE REQUIREMENTS This is a highly technical and specialised role so there are a few key things you need to possess to be successful in this role.
You have an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant equivalent qualification), or Advanced Diploma or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
You will also have demonstrated knowledge of standards and legislation surrounding electrical engineering.
You have experience with Design of Remote & Embedded Generation Systems, Protection System Design, Substation Design and/or Hybrid Power Station Design .
Experience with switchboard replacements, ranging from minor to large industrial will be highly regarded.
You will be experienced and proficient with design software including AutoCAD, Vault and MS Office and additionally, you have and have a high level of written and oral communication skills which translate to your effective stakeholder management ability.
