Satellite Coach Tasmania – Contract Position (8hrs per week) through to December 2024Bowls Australia (BA) is the national sporting organisation responsible for the leadership, development, and management of Bowls in Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary board that provides the strategic direction for the sport and the strategies that are implemented by the staff at the national office. BA’s members are the eight state and territory bowls associations. There are over 1,870 clubs and over 640,000 participants nationwide. BA is affiliated with World Bowls, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Commonwealth Games Australia where it is a core sport in the Commonwealth Games held every four years.With great support from the AIS Performance Pathways Program, BA is looking for a Satellite Coach based in Tasmania to support BA High-Performance Manager and acting TAS Pathways Coach, Rebecca Van Asch. The Satellite Coach will be working with Tasmanian-based athletes in the Pathways, Emerging, and Para Jackaroos squads and will support Bowls Tasmania in the creation of a Tasmanian Academy squad for identified athletes. This is an opportunity to develop your skills in High-Performance Coaching, with the potential to progress to Pathways Coach.The Satellite Coach will be responsible for:Case management of Identified Athletes.Engage with the TAS Pathways Coach to monitor and influence the daily performance environment for identified athletes.Implement a high-performance training plan which is integrated into the athlete’s overall competition calendar. (with support from the TAS Pathways Coach).Provide technical coaching for the identified athletes.Liaison with other BA and BT coaches and selectors.Promote National Team values, resolve issues, and deliver quality HP outcomes.Work with Bowls Tasmania to maintain its High-Performance Plan.Work with Bowls Tasmania to develop and implement an annual High-Performance Calendar.Sit as a member of the BPL subcommittee and BPL selection panel and play an organizational role in establishing a Tridents squad and associated training opportunities.To be successful in this role you need to meet the following criteria:Thorough understanding and knowledge of bowls at a state and/or international level.Minimum coaching accreditation of Club Coach or be willing to obtain accreditation.Experience in developing athletes, including implementing programs. (negotiable).Be willing to support an effective high-performance program.Technology skills - computer: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Teams, Zoom.Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) to liaise with a wide range of people including athletes, service providers, management etc.Well-developed interpersonal skills.Self-motivated, able to work independently and as an active participant in a team.Prepared to travel intrastate and possibly interstate; work weekends and non-traditional hours as required.The role will be a contract position working 8hrs per week through to 31 December 2024.
