Westhaven is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support and advocate for Children and Young People living with significant disability to live life the way they choose.

About the role
As a Caseworker, you will coordinate casework responsibilities for children and young people (CYP) within Westhaven’s Intensive Therapeutic Care for Children and Young People with Significant Disability (ITC-SD) program.
Key responsibilities
* Work as part of a Therapeutic Care Team, managing the casework cycle for children and young people in care
* Ensure Case Plans are developed, reviewed and implemented within set timeframes
* Maintain regular contact with children and young people, seek their views and opinions and monitor their wellbeing
* Ensure that data is collected and recorded in a timely way
* Ensure that Casework is conducted consistent with the requirements of the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG)
To be on the forefront of this opportunity you will:
* Have knowledge and understanding of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998, NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and trauma informed practices
* Understand the supports and issues of children and young people living with significant disabilities
* Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC
* Be proficient in report writing, have demonstrated ability to develop, organise and maintain records in a timely manner using client management databases and Google Suite (or similar)
* Have highly developed organisational skills, communication skills and conflict resolution skills
Highly desirable attributes include:
* Experience in case management, child protection, child welfare practice or related field
* Experience working with people with a disability
* Ability to coordinate the development, implementation and review of Case Plans for children in out-of-home care
Essential requirements of the role
* Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a relevant Behavioural Science; or be of Indigenous descent and be willing to obtain qualifications
* A current NSW Driver’s licence
* Undertake a National Criminal Record Check
* The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
* The ability to obtain and maintain a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)
* Appropriately vaccinated against Covid-19 and able to provide evidence
