About the UnitMackay Hospital and Health Service Oncology Unit currently has 3 experienced part-time medical oncologists. We provide inpatient ward rounds and daily outpatient clinical services including telehealth to regional hospitals. Our day unit is staffed by trained oncology nurses and pharmacists and administers treatments 5 days per week.Although we don't have radiotherapy facilities on site, we work closely with our radiation oncology colleagues both at the private oncology facility in Mackay and those at the Townsville University Hospital. We participate in a small number of clinical trials at present and are keen to expand that service with the appointment of another medical oncologist.
