Job Summary
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes.
Main Responsibilities
* Plans and conducts independent Civil/Structural work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
* Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
* Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned.
* Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
* Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.
Requirements
* Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
* Technical knowledge of, and experience in, Civil / Structural engineering discipline, including methodology, cost, scheduling, and contracts administration relating to the construction of mining and metals projects.
* Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment with prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
* Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
* Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
* Demonstrated capabilities in a leadership position, mentoring and guiding others.
