Job Title: Principal Research Officer
About the Role
The Principal Research Officer will oversee and project manage the research and evaluation activities of a specific research project across northern Queensland.
This includes coordinating ethics approvals, managing project reporting, liaising with and supporting participating sites, and facilitating data collection and analysis.
The role involves engaging with stakeholders and assisting with both quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess the project's processes, impacts, and outcomes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* A postgraduate qualification and research experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Demonstrable understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care context.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Indigenous community organisations, government departments, academics and field researchers.
* A knowledge of health services, and the higher education and research sector, including ethics requirements, code of conduct for research, and an understanding of the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare service sectors.
* High level organisational, project management and time management skills; ability to work largely unsupervised and respond to competing priorities.
* Strong analytical skills to assist in complex data analysis involving quantitative and qualitative data.
About the Research Project
The CRCNA and TAAHC-funded project, "Progressing Health Equity through Strengthening the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce," is an implementation research initiative aimed at enhancing the First Nations health workforce in northern Queensland.
It will build on existing activities within Hospital and Health Services, the community-controlled sector, and primary health networks by synthesizing knowledge, engaging with health equity teams, and co-designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to boost the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in clinical and non-clinical health roles.
