How will I Help?
The Head of Financial Markets & Treasury Compliance will be responsible for providing dedicated compliance support to the Financial Markets and Treasury businesses in Westpac’s Institutional Bank (WIB) and Group Treasury divisions of Westpac.
In this role you will lead the implementation of Westpac’s compliance strategy across the Financial Markets (including FICC Sales and Trading, Strategy, Systematic Trading, Analytics & Quants, Business and Consumer Group, Platforms and DCM, Syndicate and Solutions) and Group Treasury businesses.
Leading a team, you will be responsible for executing the Compliance functional agenda as it relates to Financial Markets and Treasury businesses, including risk assessment, incident management, monitoring, reporting, training and continuous improvement.
Complete a compliance plan and execute on that plan.
Provide expert advisory compliance support to those businesses, including working with local heads of Compliance in International offices and locally to ensure a consistent outcome for global businesses.
Support to resolve critical compliance business issues and develop appropriate solutions while adopting a continuous improvement approach to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency.
Participate in the regulatory change process to ensure the business you support comply with new or updated obligations.
Maintain a detailed understanding of relevant compliance issues; support identification, escalation and remediation of significant issues.
Implement effective compliance programs and engage collaboratively with Group Compliance teams to support delivery of Group-wide capabilities.
Support the Chief Compliance Officer, WIB, Treasury, Business Bank & Wealth in setting and executing the functional strategy and delivering commitments.
Champion the Group Conduct Risk framework and approach.

This will be a highly visible role and you will work closely with FM and Treasury business stakeholders including County Heads of Compliance (outside of Australia), Non-Financial Risk, Group Control Room, Surveillance, Group and other divisional Compliance, WIB and Treasury Legal teams, Group Audit, 1st Line Risk, and Regulators. Through these interactions you will further expand your professional network and continue to refine your advanced business and commercial acumen.

What do I need?
To be successful you will have the following:
Degree qualified, Minimum of a Bachelor degree
15+ years’ compliance experience in large corporations or regulator
Prior people management experience
Demonstrated experience in managing key stakeholder relationships at a senior level both internally and externally
Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory environments and experience in managing implications across financial services businesses
Ability to adapt to rapid digitisation and technology change in financial services
Comprehensive knowledge of compliance developments to identify emerging risks that may affect the business today or in the future
Operates effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
Be comfortable in working with complexity and ambiguity
Influencing skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
