What if your career could have a lasting impact on you, and the World?
At EY we believe that whoever you are, your uniqueness helps us stand apart.
We bring together extraordinary people, like you, to build a better working world.
What is in it for you?
We are looking for a Manager or Senior Consultant to join our Entity Compliance and Governance team (Company Secretarial) in our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office. This is a rare opportunity to build on your professional and personal development in a supportive and friendly working environment.
We are at a time when business is more regulated than ever. And with the pressure to do more with less, legal functions are seeking new ways to show their value. One that weaves the legal function into the business as a whole, connecting the right people in the right places with the best technology and the entire business process. With the many investments we are making in Ernst & Young’s (EY) Law practice, the expanded practice of EY Law is well positioned to be the global leader in providing legal services to our clients, combining the practice of law in over 80 countries globally outside the US, with the business of law offerings throughout the US and globally. We can help clients solve business problems, not just legal ones - helping spot potential risk, uncover value drivers and generate cost savings on a truly global scale. Bringing all the resources to the legal function– legal advisory, legal function consulting, managed services and technology– into one borderless ecosystem, allowing for constant evolution from every angle, we can provide solutions for today while customizing strategies for the future.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Provide technical expertise, compliance services and advice to a range of private, public listed and non–listed clients, ensuring that services are delivered to a high standard, on time, and within our commercial operating model.
2. Develop and manage key client relationships and provide a full range of advisory services including technical support, board support and governance and best practice advice.
3. Manage internal relationships at EY and develop a strong profile in the Sydney or Melbourne office.
4. Manage a team of junior staff, providing ongoing technical guidance and contributing to team training sessions.
5. Contributing to business development activities, with support and guidance from Senior Management, including attending meetings with potential clients and preparing proposals.
What we are looking for
Here is our ‘wish list’ but do not worry if you do not tick all the boxes. We are interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.
6. Tertiary qualifications with a legal, business or other relevant qualification, such as the Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.
7. Minimum 3-5 years experience providing Corporate Secretarial services either in-house or in a legal firm/professional services / consulting organisation with at least 1 year experience supporting and managing a junior team.
8. Strong commercial awareness and experience in working as part of a team, with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
9. Experience in providing transactional corporate secretarial support and board support including attending and minuting meetings, drafting board resolutions, registering new companies, branch offices and an understanding of the issues and requirements in respect of the same.
10. Experience using Diligent/Blueprint Oneworld, CAS360, GEMS or similar corporate secretarial database and technology platforms.
11. Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and time management skills to prioritise competing deadlines, a strong work ethic and exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ideally you will have:
12. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
13. Experience of client relationship management and/or timesheet entry systems (desirable)
14. Business development experience.
