The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
IMTD is responsible for supporting one of the largest technology networks in Victoria and leading the department's technology, digital capability, business systems and digital transformation. This network consists of Schools, Corporate and Early Childhood Education (ECE) including a school user base of more than 1500 Government schools, 50,000 teachers and 650,000 students.
IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the Department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration.
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity is available for a Data Audit and Assurance Officer, this role is responsible for performing data quality audits and assisting data custodians in upholding data governance and ensuring compliance with Whole of Victorian Government frameworks. This role will drive the implementation of data governance strategies, oversee the management of the Data Classification Register, and work closely with Data Owners to facilitate effective decision-making.
Additionally, you will support operational management by coordinating procurement and recruitment processes, as well as managing project activities. A key part of this role is fostering a positive team culture through health initiatives and ensuring that services are properly documented in the service catalogue.

* Extensive understanding of the Whole of Victorian Government Information Management Framework and the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework (VPDSF).
* Demonstrated expertise in performing data quality audits to ensure compliance, precision, and consistency with applicable frameworks and policies.
* Capability to assist data custodians in sustaining data quality, enforcing governance controls, and maintaining consistent data classification across the organisation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in IT preferred
* Relevant certifications in data audit and assurance or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated understanding and experience with relevant ISO standards (e.g., ISO 27001, ISO 27701)
