Key Responsibilities:GKR Transport are an interstate linehaul transport business specialising in ugly freight.
As a Transport Operations Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the State Manager with daily administrative tasks and maintaining the coordination and efficiency of our transport operations.You will be responsible for ensuring clear and timely communication between supervisors, drivers, and clients, while helping to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.This role will have a strong focus on local PUD truck allocation, ensuring the seamless and efficient assignment of freight, drivers, and vehicles as well as manifesting, onforwarding, and handling of local freight enquiries.
You will also provide coverage and support to both administration and operations roles as needed.To be successful in this role, you must have a solid background in heavy freight and linehaul transport.
Experience in managing or coordinating ugly freight is highly desirable.Coordinate and manage daily Local PUD freight, truck and driver allocationAccurately manifest trailers before departureEnsure drivers receive correct paperwork prior to leaving the depotData entry of customer collections via online systems and phone callsSupport schedulers with email and phone inquiriesPrioritise next day deliveries for local trucksOrganise onforwarding deliveries and bookings with local carriersEnsure all driver paperwork is completed accurately and on timePerform sweeps of the depot floor to check for any missing freightVerify freight on the floor, and ensure all items have the correct paperworkProvide support to other departments when requiredMaintain compliance with company policies and safety proceduresWhat We're Looking For:At least 2 years administrative experience working in a transport and logistics environmentStrong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, clients and fellow staff membersFamiliar with bookings and coordination of transport carriersExperience in customer serviceStrong computer skills and attention to detailExcellent planning, organisation, and multitasking abilitiesAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentForklift licence (preferred but not essential)Why Join GKR Transport?At GKR Transport, we invest in our people through ongoing training and development, ensuring your skills and service expectations are recognised and fully supported.
