About the project
John Holland has been awarded the $300m Draper Road Water Treatment Plant and Pipelines project to deliver a new drinking water supply to the Cairns community. The scope includes the following:
1. Draper Road water treatment plant (DRWTP) – capacity of 60 megalitres (ML)/day.
2. An 8 ML clear water reservoir (at RL 122 m AHD) delivering treated water into the trunk network and earthworks to accommodate future construction of a 5 ML high-level service reservoir (at RL 116 m AHD).
3. Construction of an all-weather access road from the DRWTP to the reservoir sites. Mulgrave River intake (Stage 1) and raw water main delivering 20 ML/day of raw water to the DRWTP.
4. Upgrade to the existing Behana Creek intake and pipeline upgrades, augmentations and extensions to the Behana Creek intake treated water supply main to deliver 44ML/day raw water to the new DRWTP.
5. Treated water delivery main works (including relevant valving) delivering water from the proposed DRWTP to Council’s existing trunk water main network located in the Bruce Highway.
6. Reticulation main works to service communities (Aloomba) and properties located south of the Mulgrave River, within Gordonvale.
7. New power, telecommunications, and data services to the DRWTP, the Mulgrave River raw water intake and the Behana Creek raw water intake.
8. Numerous Cane Rail crossings along with HDD and Thrust Bores under roads and water.
About the role
We are looking for an accomplished Senior Planner to join our close-knit team based on site in Gordonvale, Cairns, QLD.
Responsibilities of the role include:
9. Ensure monitoring and reporting of Project Controls processes are successfully set-up and implemented on the project.
10. Interface with project team, partners, clients, stakeholders, consultants, designers, vendors, subcontractors for management of the planning function in accordance with established procedures.
11. Proactively lead a planning and controls culture across the project based on best practice and with a focus on risk management, cost control and SQE.
12. Early identification and communication of issues and opportunities to the Projects team.
13. Identify the need for training in the use of planning and programming systems, project monitoring & controls and the interpretation of data and information generated.
14. People interaction: collaboration, consultation and cooperation with project staff in order to coordinate information flow for the performance of the planning and controls functions, including for the performance of subcontractors.
15. Financial management: Undertake the implementation of project monitoring systems, particularly focussing on time, cost, resources & quality (project controls & earned value).
16. Support Project Managers in report interpretation, analysis of project performance, forward planning and development of corrective actions to maximise project delivery outcomes.
To be suitable for the role, you will have:
17. Tertiary degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines - Engineering, Construction, Building, Sciences, Architecture or Project Management, or equivalent experience.
18. Previous experience as a Senior or Lead Planner working on a major infrastructure project.
19. Demonstrated application of the principles of planning.
20. Use of planning software & tools such as Primavera Project Planning, Time Chainage Charts, Program Forensic Analysis, Earned Value and Cash Flow Analysis.
