Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Nurse to provide clinical care, treatment planning, and support to young people in a custodial setting.
This role focuses on delivering evidence-based mental health interventions, ensuring continuity of care, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Duties
* Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments in an outpatient setting.
* Deliver client-centered treatment planning and review, aligning with goal-directed care plans.
* Administer and monitor medication management, including depot injections.
* Provide brief interventions and mental health support for young people with complex needs.
* Liaise with external health providers, court systems, and family members to ensure continuity of care.
* Participate in case conferences and clinical handovers to support integrated care.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and legal standards.
* Work in a rotating roster, including day, evening, and night shifts.
Skills and Experience
* Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with additional mental health experience.
* Experience in forensic, custodial, or youth justice settings (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication, documentation, and risk assessment skills.
* Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Clearance.
