Position: Maintenance Technician
Shift: 2nd Shift
Location: Kenilworth, NJ
Pay: Up to $30.00 per hour
Summary:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal operation of our facilities through effective maintenance practices. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, including experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to troubleshoot and repair equipment. A collaborative attitude, leadership abilities, and customer service are essential for success in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Operate, troubleshoot, assemble, and disassemble production equipment independently and efficiently.
2. Ensure production equipment runs at optimal speed and efficiency.
3. Perform carpentry repairs, painting, masonry repairs, and maintain facility grounds.
4. Carry out electrical repairs and installations, including connections for equipment and lighting.
5. Complete documentation accurately and on time.
6. Train and instruct team members as required.
7. Report observations to supervisors to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
8. Maintain equipment cleanliness to prevent contamination.
9. Support department performance improvements and follow all company policies and procedures.
10. Report food safety and quality deviations related to raw materials, packaging, or finished products.
Maintenance-Specific Responsibilities:
1. Inspect buildings using gauges, meters, and test devices to determine maintenance needs.
2. Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
3. Perform production equipment changeovers and adjustments.
4. Understand and apply assembly and disassembly procedures for equipment.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
1. Overtime required as necessary.
2. Exposure to loud environments and potential workplace hazards.
3. Frequent physical activities, including bending, lifting (up to 100 lbs.), climbing, and standing.
4. Exposure to extreme temperatures, especially in summer months.
5. Capability to work on ladders, scaffolds, and in confined spaces.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
3. Knowledge of multicultural work environments and bilingual (English/Spanish).
4. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
5. Proficiency in math, reading, writing, and record-keeping.
6. Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures, GMPs, and safety practices.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $28.85 per hour
