Role
The Practice and Legal Support Manager performs a critical role in supporting the Director of Legal Policy and the Principal Lawyers with their coordination of inhouse legal services to the various business units of the Court. The role includes overseeing the administration and practice management of the LPU; and undertaking technical legal support tasks. Technical legal support tasks may involve paralegal assistance, such as the preparation of legal correspondence, coordination of briefs, liaising with external stakeholders, and record management tasks.
Under supervision of a Principal Lawyer, the Practice and Legal Support Manager will also support the LPU's advisory services to the Principal Registrar; the management of reviews and appeals in higher court jurisdictions; and responses to inquiries initiated by statutory authorities. Success in this role requires a high degree of initiative and effective communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
About You
1. Experience in legal administration or court services.
2. High quality drafting experience for legal correspondence and documents.
3. Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
4. Knowledge of practice, procedures and processes relevant to the Magistrates' Court is highly desirable.
Candidates that have completed or are nearing completion of a tertiary qualification in law; or have completed a legal administration program, will be considered favourably. Candidates that have prior paralegal experience will also be highly regarded.
