Registered Nurse - Post Graduate in Intensive Care Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital You will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care within Intensive Care whilst undertaking a Post Graduate Qualification in Intensive Care with a 12 month duration.Once completed, this course provides you the essential skills and knowledge to practice as a Critical Care Registered Nurse. You will care for a variety of critically unwell patients following Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Medical, Orthopaedic and patients undergoing complex procedures. The successful applicant will be required to enrol through Deakin University and undertake online tutorials one day per week. Post Graduate students will be supported by Clinical Educators and experienced CCRN's within the Intensive Care Unit.Both night and day shifts are required with the option of 12 hour shifts to suitable candidates. The Position Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths. Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions. Maintains and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork, between staff, patients, relatives, doctors and ancillary staff. Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of allocated patients. Communicates effectively with all members of the care team and reports changes in patients status to appropriate personnel. Initiates discharge planning on patients admission to ensure appropriate use of all resources and the patient/family are well prepared for discharge. Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are available to all staff and adhered to and implemented. You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse in an acute care environment. To succeed you will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills, ability to identify and solve problems.In addition, you will demonstrate commitment to quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
