It will use in-depth qualitative methods to collect novel data and provide an evidence-base for points of intervention. It is part of an ONI Discovery Research Project titled ‘Digital pathways to violent extremism in young Australians: Intelligence imperatives and implications’ in a research group led by Prof. Tim Legrand. The successful applicant will be part of a vibrant research team, including academics from the University of Adelaide and Flinders University, and have regular engagement with stakeholders in government and community sectors.To be successful you will need :A PhD in sociology / political science or a related discipline (e.g. gender studies, human geography).Demonstrated capacity to design, collate, and analyse qualitative research.Conceptual knowledge related to youth radicalisation and political extremism.Demonstrated capacity to publish, and disseminate research findings through presentations or other formats (e.g. policy briefs).Capacity to work independently as well as in teams, and to deliver outcomes on time and budget.This position requires a valid Working with Children Check, National Police Check and Defence Clearance.Visa sponsorship is not available for this opportunity, applicants must hold existing and unrestricted work rights in Australia.Enjoy an outstanding career environmentWe offer a uniquely rewarding workplace.
