Residents & Registrars (Healthcare & Medical) Full time The Friendly Society Private Hospital is seeking Medical Registrars to provide onsite medical care to patients in our Critical Care Unit (Coronary & Intensive Care), working alongside many supportive specialists & nurses. Your role: Contribute to all aspects of clinical care, under the guidance of our credentialled medical specialists and the Director of Critical Care. Conduct a comprehensive patient assessment on all admissions into the Critical Care Unit, collaborating with the specialist team to plan care. Attend patient rounds, document ongoing management, and communicate treatment goals with the nursing team. Review any patient concerns and attend to deteriorating patients as part of the medical emergency team. Perform any necessary procedures as required, including PIVC, CVC, PICC and arterial cannulation. Manage a mechanically ventilated patient; competent in intubation & airway management. Assist with procedural sedation in the unit when required. The CCU Registrar will work 12.5 hour shifts with 7 days on 7 days off alternate day and night roster periods. Additional hours may be available to cover leave and during busy periods. Key Selection Criteria A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and hold general registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Previous post-graduate acute/critical care experience (mandatory). Expert procedural skills including advanced life support (adult & paediatric), arterial line insertion, central line insertion (CVC & PICC). Expert medical knowledge of the pathophysiology & management of a wide variety of critical illnesses and conditions. Expert clinical knowledge of cardiac & acute coronary syndrome management. Thorough understanding of the relevant legislation pertaining to your role. High level oral and written communication skills. Strong work ethic with the ability to work under pressure, set priorities, plan, and organise workloads. Working autonomously, with minimal supervision to achieve positive patient outcomes (in consultation with the specialist & nursing team). Ability to work as an effective team member and provide high quality customer service to internal staff, our patients, and their families.
