About the Job
Are you an experienced Business Development Manager with a flair for building strategic relationships and driving growth? Join SA Water’s Customer Growth team, where you’ll connect with large customers, manage commercial projects, and secure funding to advance our mission of providing world-class water services across South Australia. This role requires a polished professional with strong commercial acumen, a talent for business development, and the ability to navigate a regulated environment, ideally with experience in water, utilities, or related industries.
Your responsibilities for this opportunity
Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
You will:
Drive business growth by identifying and managing projects that support SA Water’s strategic goals, with a focus on resource allocation and funding.
Build and sustain key relationships with senior clients and stakeholders, including CEOs and government bodies, as a trusted advisor.
Develop persuasive business cases and briefings, supporting decision-making for SA Water’s leadership and board.
Lead third-party customer negotiations to establish commercial agreements, delivering innovative water and wastewater solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams to promote service excellence and foster continuous improvement.
Your success in this role will come from:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or relevant project management experience.
Proven ability to build and manage large customer relationships with strong written and communication skills.
Strong commercial acumen with experience presenting business cases and proposals to executives.
Background in regulated environments, ideally in water, oil, gas, electricity, or utilities.
Confidence in presenting to diverse audiences, including government and industry leaders.
Capability in influencing decision makers and negotiating complex agreements.
