Mining - Operations (Mining, Resources & Energy)Full timeMeeka Metals Limited (MEK) is building Western Australia’s newest gold mine, and we now have the exciting opportunity to welcome a suitably qualified Mine Manager – Open Pit to our new flagship site – Murchison Gold Project, 50kms north of Meekatharra.The project is a combined open pit and underground mining operation with an initial 9-year mine life. Site activities are ramping up now with construction underway, mining operations commencing early in 2025 and processing commencing shortly thereafter.The role is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth.About the RoleThis pivotal role reports into the General Manager and carries full accountability for managing mine planning, geotechnical engineering, mine surveying, projects analysis whilst ensuring safety and production targets are met, and continuous improvement are achieved, enabling the business to meet its short and long term safety, production and cost objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the mine planning function including development of the Reserve calculations, LOM plans, mine budget and short and long term schedules.Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote safety, health environmental and housekeeping awareness.Successful overall execution of plan on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and report on variances to the plan.Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the team.Contribute to a continuous planning process that focuses on resource optimisation, management planning and control processes and the maximisation of value.Develop technical solutions and innovations to assist in sustainable achievement of targets.Performance management and disciplinary procedures are undertaken in compliance with Company procedures.Working relationships between the Mining and other departments is promoted and information flows freely and accurately.Incidents are investigated and corrective and preventative measures are implemented and evaluated for their effectiveness.Initiate and support cultural change in line with MEK objectives and requirements.Ensure all members of the team have clearly defined accountabilities, roles and individual development plans.Engage contractors as required and issue appropriate scopes of work for contractors coming to site.Ensure compliance with MEK safety policies, The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 as well as other appropriate legislation.About YouTertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.+10 years’ experience in open pit mining operations and practices.Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.Site Senior Executive Certificate of Competency (Desirable).Strategic thinker when it comes to forward planning, risk management, risk mitigation and business improvements.Solid technical and working knowledge of relevant legislation.Demonstrated experience in managing teams to meet set targets and objectives.Strong ability to liaise with external and internal stakeholders effectively.Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite.Proficient in mining planning software (Deswik).Valid C Class - Western Australian Drivers Licence.Senior First Aid Certificate.Valid National Police Clearance.AccommodationYou will be accommodated in a well-appointed mine village with a fully equipped gym, WIFI with streaming capacity, and full Telstra coverage.
