We are on the lookout for a passionate full-time chef to join our kitchen team!
About the Role:
As a chef at Caribou, you’ll help lead our kitchen operations and work closely with the team to deliver exceptional food experiences. From menu planning to food prep, you’ll ensure quality and consistency in every dish while creating a welcoming environment for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain Quality Standards: Monitor food quality and consistency across all stages of production, ensuring every dish meets our standards and complies with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
* Menu Development: Collaborate on seasonal menu design, considering ingredient sourcing, food allergens, and dietary requirements as per Australian standards.
* Food Safety & Hygiene:
* Follow HACCP Principles: Actively participate in our Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) procedures, which are aligned with Australian food safety protocols.
* Ensure Compliance: Adhere strictly to the Food Standards Code and ACT Health regulations, including food handling and storage procedures, temperature control, and cleaning and sanitization practices.
* Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including staff management, food preparation, and service timing.
* Team Leadership: Train and supervise kitchen staff, providing clear direction and feedback to support their development.
* Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and minimize wastage by ensuring proper food storage as per Australian regulations.
* Safety & Cleanliness:
* Ensure the kitchen follows ACT Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
* Conduct regular checks and audits on kitchen cleanliness, equipment functionality, and food storage to maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements.
* Maintain proper labeling and storage protocols, ensuring all perishable items are stored at appropriate temperatures and clearly marked with use-by dates.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience: Minimum of 3 years of chef experience, preferably in a similar environment, with knowledge of Australian food safety standards.
* Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a knack for organization, and the ability to work well under pressure.
* Attention to Detail: Commitment to high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
* Team Player: A positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with both kitchen and bar staff.

* Job Type: Full Time
* Salary: AUD 72,000 - AUD 75,000 per year
