An opportunity exists for an experienced Psychologist to become the APS 6 Mental Health Unit Manager of a health facility delivering services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members in Enoggera Health Centre. This is a dynamic role, working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the mental health unit and be directly responsible for managing a wide range of administrative and coordination activities to ensure the provision of high quality health care. These duties include managing workforce rosters, budget allocations and workplace health and safety requirements, as well as conducting governance and quality assurance activities. As a psychologist, use of clinical knowledge and skills is important in ensuring service delivery processes are safe and efficient and that there is technical support and oversight available to subordinate clinicians. Another key aspect of this role is leading a small team and engaging with other relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for ADF members. Effective communication skills are essential and a background or special interest in mental health will be desirable. Through the delivery of reliable, resilient and best practice health services, JHC enables a healthy, ready, and supported Force from enlistment through to transition from service. Health care services are delivered through eight Joint Health regions across Australia. The APS6 Mental Health Unit Manager position is part of Joint Health Unit - South Queensland and is based at Enoggera Health Centre, Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, and QLD. Each Joint Health facility provides a range of services which can include medical, nursing, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, rehabilitation, and in-patient care. This position reports to the Health Centre Manager at Enoggera Health Centre in Brisbane. They must be able to develop productive relationships with various stakeholders both internal and external to Defence. The ability to foster a service focused and positive work culture is essential in ensuring that all team members are working towards shared objectives. The ideal candidate must be flexible and adaptable. They will be comfortable with managing change and responding to short notice tasks. They will have the ability to anticipate, identify, and respond to changing priorities. They will also be committed to ongoing professional development for themselves and, with the Psychology Manager, the team and be prepared to mentor and train junior team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
